Insurance Requirements for Filming in Clark County and the City of Las Vegas

Production companies are required to carry specific insurance coverages to obtain filming permits when filming in Clark County, Nevada, or the City of Las Vegas. These requirements are established to protect public entities and ensure accountability during production activities.

All insurance must be issued by a company licensed or affiliated with a U.S.-licensed insurer. Coverage amounts must be stated in U.S. dollars, with minimum liability thresholds and additional insureds clearly named. Below is a breakdown of the insurance requirements by jurisdiction.

Filming in Clark County, Nevada

General Requirement

Insurance is always required for filming in Clark County. Policies must list the following as additional insureds:

  • Clark County
  • Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department
  • City of Las Vegas (for Overlapping Jurisdictions, See Below)

Coverage Limits

Commercial General Liability:

  • $1,000,000 per Occurrence
  • $1,000,000 Aggregate

Jurisdiction Note: Clark County covers areas south of Las Vegas Boulevard (The Strip), between Sahara Avenue and Russell Road. This includes areas south of the Stratosphere down to the end of Las Vegas Boulevard South.

Filming in the City of Las Vegas

Required Insurance Coverages:

Commercial General Liability

  • $1,000,000 per Occurrence
  • $2,000,000 Aggregate
  • Must include Waiver of Subrogation

Automobile Liability

  • $1,000,000 Combined Single Limit
  • Must include Waiver of Subrogation

Workers Compensation / Employers Liability

  • $1,000,000
  • Must include Waiver of Subrogation

Note: Including a “Waiver of Subrogation” typically increases the insurance premium.

Jurisdiction Note: The City of Las Vegas governs areas north of Sahara Avenue along Las Vegas Boulevard South, from the Stratosphere to Fremont Street.
